所用があって一泊で名古屋に行って来た。
東海道新幹線については,そこそこFrequent userなのだが,最近になって,漸く「エクスプレス予約」を利用し始めた。
昨日は,名古屋でのAPOと東京でのAPOの間に時間があったので,何十年ぶりかで帰路「こだま」を利用してみた。
8,900円は,エクスプレス予約を利用した場合の名古屋⇒東京間の「こだま」グリーン車料金。(但し,3日前までの購入に限られる。)


東京=名古屋間の「のぞみ」普通車の通常料金は10,500円前後(繁忙期・通常期・閑散期で料金が異なる。)。
グリーン車は4,000円増しだ。
通常のエクスプレス予約を使うと,回数券程度の割引があるのだが,通常料金の場合,23区内=名古屋市内の料金であるのに対し,エクスプレス予約だと,東京駅(品川)=名古屋駅間のみ有効。
従って,東京(品川)駅以外の23区内JR駅から乗車する場合,その間の運賃が追加で必要となる。
(これに限らず,JR東海と東の対抗心というか,顧客を顧みない縄張り意識はなんとかして欲しい。)


「こだま」だからといって必ずしも古い機材ではない。昨日は,最新のN700A系だった。
ただ,「こだま」の場合,殆どすべての停車駅で「待ち合わせ」があって,名古屋⇒東京では,「のぞみ」に比べ,一時間以上,余計に時間がかかる。
まぁ,グリーン車なら車内で仕事もできるから,SKDがあえば一度試してみる価値はあると思う。


これまでJR東海は,東海Tours経由のパッケージ等を除けば,かなりタイトな価格戦略を採って来たが,徐々に所謂イールドマネージメントの考え方を取り入れつつあるようだ。
エクスプレス予約には,同じく3日前購入の「ひかり」割引運賃もある。(価格帯は「のぞみ」と「こだま」のほぼ中間)
東京=名古屋間だけをとってみると「早い」ひかりと「遅い」ひかりがあって,前者だと「のぞみ」より一つ停車駅が多いだけで,数分の違いに過ぎない。


「ジパング」と言ったシルバー世代向けの割引運賃といい,JR東海が本腰をいれれば,LCCはともかく東京=大阪間のLegacy carrierはリニア以前にも「撃ち落とされる」可能性があると思う。
